Unorganized Territories Property Tax to be Topic of Discussion

On Thursday evening, October 21st, Robert Doiron, Supervisor of the Unorganized Territories Property Tax Division, will be in Lubec to give a talk about U.T. property taxes. He will be accompanied by his deputy for Washington County, William Skinner.

Mr. Doiron, who's office is in Augusta, will be on hand to explain the specifics of how the U.T. mil rate is arrived at and how the collected taxes are distributed – the percentages allocated to education, road maintenance and other contingencies.

Following his presentation Mr. Doiron will answer questions from the floor, enabling those living in or owning property in one of the downeast U.T.s to take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn more--from the man at the top – about how they are taxed.

The meeting, sponsored by the Trescott Historical Society, will take place at the Lubec Memorial Library, Water Street, on Thursday night, October 21st at 6:30 PM.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
