Unorganized Territories Property Tax to be Topic of Discussion
On Thursday evening, October 21st, Robert Doiron, Supervisor
of the Unorganized Territories Property Tax Division, will be in Lubec
to give a talk about U.T. property taxes. He will be accompanied by
his deputy for Washington County, William Skinner.
Mr. Doiron, who's office is in Augusta, will be on hand to explain the
specifics of how the U.T. mil rate is arrived at and how the collected
taxes are distributed – the percentages allocated to education, road
maintenance and other contingencies.
Following his presentation Mr. Doiron will answer questions from the
floor, enabling those living in or owning property in one of the downeast
U.T.s to take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn more--from the
man at the top – about how they are taxed.
The meeting, sponsored by the Trescott Historical Society, will take
place at the Lubec Memorial Library, Water Street, on Thursday night,
October 21st at 6:30 PM.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served
following the presentation.
