“Anti-sprawl” Campaign Calls Trescott “Fast Growing” for LURC Land Use Control Planning | |
A group seeking to increase state land use controls throughout the mostly privately owned Unorganized Territories has singled out Trescott as an example of what it calls “fast growing” because of the township's average of 5 building permits issued per year. LURC is the state “zoning board” for the UT, including Trescott, but is also being pushed to enforce more preservation of private property. Anticipating LURC's upcoming revision of its Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the UT, activists campaigning against “sprawl” are promoting a year-old privately issued report on the UT to influence LURC. Several newspaper articles have recently appeared.
